The still prominent AutoPay system forces passengers to carry loose change (bank notes are not allowed) and fails to offer cash refund for overpaid amounts. Refunds are just printed slips, which are not redeemable in future bus journeys. There is only one single place in Dublin, where bus refund slips can be reclaimed.

Other problems include confusing timetables (listed times do not relate to the stop where the time table is on display!), confusing route number system and vast amounts of bus routes on the O’Connell Street - Trinity College axis.
