The best argument for the introduction is that it is much more affordable to build an extensive network that could cover the entire Dublin area with a much needed rapid connection system. The currently proposed Metro North underground rail would offer only a single connection from the city to the airport, but would come in at a carefully estimated 200 million Euro per kilometre. The Luas light rail was considerably lower at around 33 million per kilometre. A Bus Rapid Transit system would cost only a third of that with around 7-10 million Euro per kilometre.
Bus Rapid Transit - a great alternative
